Our Into The Wild Holiday Adventures are designed to be a pivotal experience in helping your teen:

  • Forge new friendships and bonds with other like-minded teens
  • Provide a break from โ€œscreensโ€, social media and modern technology
  • Show them the power of nature in allowing time and space to think, reflect, play, explore, and appreciate natural rhythms
  • Help them develop teamwork attributes as they work together to make progress each day on The River and overcome shared challenges
  • Give them opportunities to learn new skills in the areas of camping, adventure, bushcraft and survival
  • Facilitate experiences of sharing and reflecting on their personal progress and dealing with the emotions attached to facing challenges

Into The Wild is multi-day outdoor adventure experience that takes place in beautiful remote locations in South West WA.

Each day starts and ends in a new location, and the primary activities are rafting, camping, bushwalking, and group challenges. Depending on the age group we can also include rock climbing, abseiling, caving and Mountain Biking.

The activities and process are designed to be fun, achievable, build positive connections between teens, improve personal resilience, foster teamwork, learn new life skills, and develop social interactions.

Into The Wild takes place in a remote location in the beautiful South West region of WA, though we like to keep the final location a little mysterious!

The camp location, including drop off and pick up points, will be clearly identified when booking your camp dates through our online platform.

Yes, our shared group camping experience is all part of the adventure!

Camp locations are in national parks, public and and private camp sites where access has been negotiated with landowners, so there is no opportunity for you to reach our group once the experience has started.

Part of Into The Wild is navigating the โ€œelementsโ€ and recognizing that this often makes the adventure experience even better!

Assume that Into The Wild is going ahead unless we advise you before the departure date. We do not cancel camps because of wet weather unless conditions are deemed as dangerous.

All participants are advised to bring effective wet weather gear with them (as directed on our โ€œWhat To Bringโ€ list).

This is not possible due to the expedition nature of Into The Wild. Our departure and arrival times are fixed.

NO. This program is not based on any religion and does not promote any one belief over another. Our program discusses and draws on the innate belief that we have strengths and gifts and we are seeking those in ourselves and others.

Our programs blend a number of experiences drawn from many cultures and practices, and at all times we support you to honour your own beliefs.

AdventureWorks is a value-based organisation that recognises diversity and strengths across society. We understand that everybody is entitled to have their own beliefs that need to be respected.

No, though we recommend they have a basic level of fitness to get the most out of the experience.

Since the group will be undertaking a range of adventure activities and camping in the outdoors, itโ€™s essential they recognize that physical activity is an essential part of Into The Wild.

We operate on a โ€œchallenge by choiceโ€ principle and at all times they have a choice to participate in an activity or not.

YES. As a professional organisation, the wellbeing of your teen is our number one priority.

Rite of Passage is a term used to recognise a period of change and create an experience and celebration to acknowledge this transition in life.

Birth, marriage, death, graduation, โ€œschooliesโ€, your first job…these are all examples of Rite of Passage moments. Sometimes these are things that are planned or potentially things that happen to us that we are not expecting.

Theyโ€™re often celebrations, and sometimes they are moments to acknowledge, let go and find ways to move positively into a new phase of life as they recognise the transition.

At AdventureWorks we focus on the period of time that young people are transitioning Into Adulthood which generally takes place between the ages of 13 – 18.

In a successful Rite of Passage or transition period, there is also a period of time (often years) when the family, elders, teachers spend time supporting, guiding, teaching and celebrating the period which prepares for change in role or status.

AdventureWorks WA Into The Wild School adventure experience is designed to support your teen on their journey Into Adulthood.

Our programs are always outdoors, connecting with nature and adventure. There are no phones or electronic devices to make sure our experience is of the highest quality.

We use a traditional story, challenge, and honour framework to help the teens consider and discuss lifeโ€™s transitions and think about what this needs to look like as they move into the future.

Bonds will be made with their peer group, and a closeness created through many special shared experiences and challenges.

Story

The group will engage in meaningful conversations about current life challenges and hear stories from adults about significant moments in their lives.

Challenge

Into The Wild provides opportunities for outdoor physical and emotional challenges to equip teens with a strong sense of achievement and resilience as well as stimulating a shift in their self-awareness .

Honour

All participants are recognised and acknowledged for their strengths and gifts on the experience. This acknowledgement and support leaves a lasting imprint.

If you have any questions, suggestions or requests then please donโ€™t hesitate to get in touch!
